“In France, cooking is a serious art form and a national sport”

Julia Child

Let’s begin every evening in front of the fire with a glass of prosecco and a nibble or two.

Hors d’ oeuvres

A warming soup, a tasty confit duck salad, zingy risotto or pan fried scallops… just a few examples of how we like to kick off proceedings.

Maybe a French inspired filet mignon de porc en croute, slow cooked lamb, a spicy thai curry, something fishy, or just a good old fashioned steak & ale pie.  All freshly prepared by the team (Josie & Xavier)!

I don’t think anyone has yet to stay in Chez Robert and not try Xavier’s tarte-tatin – maybe this is why we get so many guests coming back?  Or is it the pavlova, chocolate soup, limoncello semi-fredo or the ever so light sticky toffee pudding?

Le Fromage

Tomme, Beaufort, Brezian, Blue de Bonneval to name but a few….. so many amazing local cheeses to try.  Offered to you every evening with a glass of port.

Coffee & chocs or perhaps now is a good time for a mint tea.

“Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized.”

Andre Simon

Le Vin,  a favourite part of the job is tasting the wine.

Wherever, we travel in France we find ourselves in vinyards tasting wine.   We have four fabulous local Savoie whites ranging from the light fruity Jongieux to the heavier more rounded Chignin-Bergeron.  Both of our rosés are from the sunshine region of Provence and we have a choice of red wines from the Savoie, Bordeaux, Cotes du Rhones, Beaujolais and from over the border in Aoste.   For the bubbles we have two Valdobbiadene Proseccos and a crémant de Savoie.
